Salvador and Micareta (Carnaval throughout the year)
In Brazil, there is throughout the year. If you miss the famous Rio carnaval you can choose another one. Micareta is a Carnaval that happens throughtout the year in various cities in Brazil. In 1937 it began in Feira de Santana city in Bahia.
The name is derived from the french Micarême, which signify half queresma·In Brazil the introduction of Micarême as a city party begin in the City of Feria de Santana Bahia.·This due to the heavy rain which occur during the carnaval dates of the same year.·Micarême is a French festival which happen since XV, during the 40 days of penitence precedem Easter accordingly with the customs of the Catolic Church.
Trio Eletrico
Trio Elétrico is the name for a truck equipped with a high power sound system and a music group on top of it, playing to the crowd.·This setup is used in Brazilian Carnival inside the blocos carnavalescos and other many festivals in , specially at micaretas.
The idea was introduced in 1949 on Bahia carnival by the pair Dodô e Osmar (Adolfo Nascimento and Osmar Macedo).·Some Brazilian artists had been known by singing in a Trio as Elba Ramalho, Daniela Mercury, Ivete Sangalo, Carlinhos Brown (from Timbalada), Asa de ÁguiaChiclete com Banana. The popular Brazilian singer Caetano Veloso poetized the Trio Elétrico in the song 'Atrás do Trio Elétrico só não vai quem já morreu 'The only ones not going behind the Trio Elétrico are those who are already dead'
Salvador
Salvador is the old school and traditional street party Carnaval. It is recommended to younger people, or people with a lot of energy. Don't just be a spectator of the dancers high up on floaters, BUT be one of the dancers of the Carnaval in Bahia, Salvador. It's you out there, on the streets doing it 'till you drop!
You will need to buy your own Abada (Costume to access the party area) and participate in the dance parade through the streets and beaches of Salvador. At this event you get the feeling of being a true brazilian... always partying and having fun. Carnaval is a·great cultural enriching opportunity for everyone to share and experience.
